THE UNDERWATER WORLD
Underwater photographer Agnès Etchegoyen creates work at the intersection of art and environmental activism. Based in Saint Martin, she dives into the heart of marine ecosystems to document, with a sensitive and immersive approach, the lives of large ocean animals.
Tiger sharks, whales, dolphins… far from clichés, her images reveal the complexity, power, and vulnerability of these species. In collaboration with marine biologists, she situates her work within a framework of raising awareness and protecting the oceans.
Each photograph is born from a long period of time, a discreet presence, and a relationship built with the living world. More than just images, her work offers an experience: a face-to-face encounter with a world still largely unknown, yet essential to the planet's balance.
🐋 An intimate relationship with marine animals
What sets you apart isn't just what you show… it's how you experience it.
You are not a spectator: you are immersed, physically and emotionally.
You dive in, you wait, you observe, you respect.
Your images are born from this rare proximity—a balance of patience, humility, and instinct. They do not seek to dominate the subject, but to connect with it.
One senses in your work:
a sincere fascination with large predators
a tenderness for subtle behaviors
an ability to capture the moment when the animal “lets you in” to its world
